How You Can Escape the Damnation of Hell

How You Can Escape the Damnation of Hell
/

Jesus once said to the Pharisees, “How can you escape the damnation of hell?” But today, my message is how you CAN escape.

John 4:1-6 (KJV)

1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

Even though Jesus Christ was the Son of God, he suffered the same things in the flesh you and I do today. He got tired, hungry, and wearied.

John 4:7-9 (KJV)

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

Although there was segregation at that time, Jesus was different.

John 4:10 (KJV)

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Christ is here to give everybody that will ask him that same living water. I’m using the woman of the well today as an example of what God has in store for you in order to deliver you from the pains of death.

John 4:11 (KJV)

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

Her mind was natural. She had not been taught or trained in the spiritual things of God.

John 4:12 (KJV)

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

She knew the Old Testament, but she had never heard or known about the Messiah or the Savior of the world that the Old Testament spoke of until this moment.

John 4:13 (KJV)

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

In other words, whoever drinks of the natural water or the natural things of this life, will thirst again.

John 4:14-18 (KJV)

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

In other words, have I discerned you right? He told her that she was a harlot by knowing her mind and what she had done in the past. Now, here was a harlot woman, at a well, and yet Jesus had no respect of persons. According to the law he wasn’t supposed to be talking to a woman of Samaria. According to the law he wasn’t even supposed to be talking to a married woman, period. But he had no respect of persons

John 4:19 (KJV)

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

Here was an ignorant and an unlearned woman according to that day, and yet she knew by the words that Jesus spoke, that he was special, different, and knew all things. I wonder how many people today would perceive that Jesus is a prophet if he walked here today like he did then? I wonder how many people would be called and chosen of God through him now if he were walking in the flesh here today?

John 4:20 (KJV)

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

You see, she was religious. Watch how Jesus tore her little denominal organization up in the next verse:

John 4:21 (KJV)

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

In other words, the time is coming when you won’t need a mountain or a church in Jerusalem or a church anywhere else to worship me!
