The Sermon on the Mount – Part 57

True belief is far more than just saying the right words. Having true belief, and true faith in God, manifested with righteous works, is what God expects of us.

  • Matthew 7:21: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
  • Matthew 12:34: “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
  • Romans 10:9: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
  • Romans 10:10: “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:19: “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
  • James 2:18-20: “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead.”
  • Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
  • James 2:21-23: “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”
